We have tried potty training our 1 yr old and she is ready….I tried having her walking around the house with just panties on but then decided to go with bare bum. This was great and she pottied on her potty for a while….then when we went out we had to put PullUps on her and she pees and poops in them and doesnt tell us. Now if she is wearing pants or just her panties around the house its a guaranteed oops. How do I fix this? We have the potty time video and she loves it to bits but as soon as we do the pull ups she doesnt ask to potty or if we ask her she says no then piddles or poops in 5 mins.

when I potty trained my son we only used diapers at night.

If he said something about wanting them, I told him that it would have to be bedtime then, and he would have to go to sleep…. he quickly stopped asking for them.

as for the accidents, I suggest to time her… it may be different with her, but my son was predictable with his urination for sure (about every 3-4 hours).. once I figured that out, I would just take him to the potty.. and he would use it.. **I had lots of incentives and rewards and potty games so it was never a battle**

Untill you find her timing, I suggest that you get her to HELP you clean up the mess. While she is helping you, talk to her about where the "pee pee and poo poo" goes…. in the potty,, have her throw the dirty toilet paper and mess in the toilet and have her flush and wash hands etc.

I think that after a while she will get tired of having to clean the mess. and it would help her to want to be using the potty more.

As for outings, this can be tricky… I really tried to keep these to a minimum but its hard sometimes I know.. just get her to use the potty before you leave the house.. and before you leave your destination… so there is no accident in the car..
ALways carry extra clothes, baby wipes… sanitizer etc.. and try to take her to the bathroom while you are out **expecially if its a long outing**

But remember.. no more pull-ups/diapers.. they really confuse.. and have the child regress.. only at night if you choose…
