My baby is 7 weeks old now. Just wondering. Coz I have noticed her pattern of diaper change. Can it be used to potty train. since I know her timings are roughly one hour after a feed, she needs a diaper change…..
yes, you can start to respond to your babies cues! lots of new parents are starting to do what they do in other cultures, and it has been called Elimination Communication or Natural Infant Hygene.
i’ve been doing EC with my 13 week old boy since birth, and it’s great.
here’s an article and a video on it

no … that is just ridiculous. First of all, a 7 week old eats every couple of hours. Do you really want to be stripping your baby down every 2 hours and sitting him on the toilet for 15 minutes (while you hold him) so he can do his business?? That is not real potty training anyways .. he cannot potty train until he is at least capable of walking to the bathroom on his own…

I am really hoping that you meant 7 months instead of 7 weeks, or that this is a joke.
But, yes a year and a half to two years is normal. Though the timing of going is there, the baby is not old enough to understand it’s own body. You might as well try and teach a five your old calculus.

Yes you CAN start at 7 weeks! lots of people do, it’s known as Elimination Communication (EC) or Natural Infant Hygiene… in developing countries it’s just normal to start at infancy.
You can start by holding her over a sink or potty when you think she has to go, and make a cueing sound such as "sssss". Soon you will notice the way she acts when she is going to go, and you can catch it ahead of time. She will also get use to waiting for the position and sound.

it’s not about ‘training’ them or punishing them, it’s about communicating and allowing them to be clean and dry.

I did this with my kids, and on 2 seperate occasions when I tried it with other people’s babies, they did it right away! it’s instinct.
Some people say they are just training us, but we are either trained to help them potty or we are trained to change diapers!
A baby/child needs to have the ability to control its bladder/bowl and that isn’t until about age two.
All you will do now is make work for yourself and eventually make the baby/child anxious if it doesn’t produce which can cause problems.
BTW some children take longer to potty train and cannot control their functions until a later age- soome lmuch later than others. BUT you dont see a 20 year old needing nappies!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

3 children successfully potty trained.
There are several ways/ages of potty training. The oldest is called Elimination Communication, which is holding your child over a potty/toilet or some other chosen spot and making a sound when she begins to urinate/defecate, usually pssst or sssss. It can start in the newborn period and a baby will learn in a few weeks or months a way to summon you when she needs to go-usually by crying.
The one that used to be used by your grandparents was probably waiting until you were crawling well (around 9 months) or walking (between 10 and 16 months) and putting the child in a long tee shirt and no underwear so the child can make the connection between feeling and going-and SEE it.
The most "modern" and cruelest method is the modern one. We wrap our children in paper and force them to lie around in their urine for hours on end. We believe what Pampers has told us-that children potty trained prior to two to four years of age become basket cases. If you really think about it, do you think prior to the invention of the disposable diaper and washing machine that women would hand wash diapers for 2 to 3 YEARS? For a modern parent, it is probably easiest to use the wait until walking method though

you won’t be potty training her, so much as training yourself
