I have mosaic out some scenes for obvious reasons
My beautiful fun loving eldest daughter Eva is now 21 years old. this video has been earmarked and shown for her 21st birthday party since the day she did this, her party which was held on 8 October 2011 and part of my speech.

ENJOY

But before you got to this age you reached many milestones some funny, some very sad, and some downright SMELLY. When Eva was a toddler she was always very organised and had her daily routines, especially sourrounding her afternoon sleep. she would have her nap after lunch ,after which being a very little girl she would normally use the potty that was in her bedroom on waking she would use it, knock on her door so I could let her then go empty it in the toilet when done, without fail every day was the same routine, but I will never ever forget the day when she woke after an extended sleep she had knocked on her bedroom door to signal to me that she wanted to empty her potty, but this time she had smeared herself and her bedroom in shit. She was very proud of herself that she had done POO YUCK ON THE POTTY. It was a moment I captured on Video but to show it tonight, and will be Uploaded to Youtube for all to enjoy.

Potty training a dog has it’s challenges. If you don’t have an easy access backyard, what do you do?? This has been one of the most popular questions that I have been asked since I have posted the potty training videos. The answers are not rocket science- simple and straight forward.

Thank you everyone who helped out writing/calling in to their state reps!

http://www.nohr669.com/

-EDIT- SEPT. 2008-
THE FDA LIFTED THE BAN ON POUCHED RATS AS PETS IN THE UNITED STATES!!! If ANYONE in the US still has them, I am VERY interested in two young pouched rats! Either Emin’s pouched OR Gambian pouched! THANK YOU!!!

Matisse is an emin’s pouched rat, they are RELATED to gambian pouched rats, but are seperate species. He is 4 years old as of 6/07, NOT neutered (vet turned me down back when I got him), and EXTREMELY affectionate. That said, not everyone can or should handle an african pouched rat. They are not domestic animals and do not act like it, either.

EDIT-
Matisse was an emin’s pouched rat (Crycetomis emini), a smaller, sleeker relative of the gambian pouched rat (Crycetomis gambianus). The emin’s pouched rat has a longer snout, it’s fur is very sleek and body is thin and longer. They have a clear line of demarkation from it’s dark brown upper body and it’s greyish white belly. The gambian rat has a short snout, a bulkier body, is a uniform greyish color, and a bit “rougher” looking fur. My emin’s pouched rat weighed about 4 lbs. at his peak, was SOLID muscle, made lots of “churbling” noises (almost like a parrot) and was very playful outside his cage. He was extremely intelligent, scarily so, and figured things out instantly. He was also VERY stubborn, and if he didn’t want to do something, there was no way you could make him.

Matisse passed away Summer of 2007 at 4 years 2 months of age. He died sleeping in his hammock… I was devastated.

He was 4th generation captive bred, VERY affectionate, and very much bonded to me (although others could pet and handle him JUST FINE!).

although I had success with Matisse, they’re not pets for everyone. These guys are still wild animals, and unless you have experience with BOTH medium sized exotic animals as well as rats, I wouldn’t recommend them. Pouchies are strong, destructive, and can do serious damage to a person if that person doesn’t know what they’re doing. They can also chew through wire cage bars if they put their mind to it, and wires and cabinets are short work for those powerful teeth.

My daughter is 27 months old, and we bought her a potty about a month ago. I bought a video (Elmo Potty Time) for her and started talking about going pee on the potty, using toilet paper, etc. She is very interested in all things potty–which is great. But she has started peeing on the potty pretty regularly when we are home, and refuses to let me empty the potty when she is done. She wants to get TP and then puts it in the pee, and then tries to take it out of the pee (MESS!) and if I try to help her she has a fit. Also, when I do finally dump her pee in the actual toilet, she has a meltdown like I have never witnessed before. She screams, sobs, hyperventilates, etc. Then she tries to take water from her sippy cup and put it into the toilet…like she’s trying to put more pee in there again.

She is just kind of obsessive and stubborn, and I am wondering how I can set boundaries without hindering her potty training.

Help!!

I have a little two year old boy who will be starting toilet training in a few months. I’ve been talking to my mum for a while about it and she told me that when one of my siblings was toilet training they too got very upset when it was time to flush it down the toilet. I don’t know why but she found that when they did it together and they waved goodbye to the poo and wee as they flushed it, all the problems stopped. Maybe some children find it upsetting to see something that came from them disappearing like that. You could maybe use simple explanations or stories like the poo and wee need to go home now. They live in the toilet. We’ll wave goodbye to them now. "Bye bye! Have fun! I’ll see you later!!" etc. I know it sounds ridiculous, but it’s worth a try.

Continue to praise her when she does well and really have her involved in the process by getting her to wipe her self, tip it in the toilet, flush and wash the potty out with your help. Remind her that as long as she eats and drinks she will always do wees and poos and that she will get to see them again. Something as big as potty training can be quite scary. And at such a young age those fears are very real to her. Toilet training is supposed to be a positive experience. Not a bad one. Be positive and patient. It won’t last forever!! :)
