Millie was totally potty trained by 20months and using the big girl toilet with the help of a little step but every child is different and will take their own time, you must start them when you feel they are ready.

Try to make potty training a fun experience for your child, they can act it out with their favourite teddy to show that they understand. It is important not to put a nappy on your little one during the day when you are potty training as they will see this as the most comfortable and convenient option to go toilet in their nappy instead of telling you they need to go potty.

Also we found when Millie was potty training if she wore knickers around the house it lulled her into a false sense of security and she often wet them thinking she was still wearing a nappy, so in her case it was best to be completely bare! Perhaps the summertime is a better time to start when loose fitting clothes can be worn without underwear.

You will need to start by asking your child frequently to go to the potty because they may not realise when they need to go, so every hour or so when you suspect they may be full sit them on the potty and ask them to go wee wee and poopies. It can help for them to associate motions with sounds so making the shhhh and plop sound and praising them when they can identify which one they have done will make the experience more enjoyable for all. Never hurry your child or punish them if they have an accident. It is difficult for little people to build control and understanding, so a kind and guiding hand and plenty of hugs and encouragement is the best thing you can do for them, allowing them to build confidence and develop at their own pace.

All moms know that beginning potty training is a huge ordeal, and Alecia and Knox are just beginning the process. Poor baby Knox has had terrible constipation since 9 months of age. He would try desperately to hold it in. Alecia has gone through many trials and errors, but has found that encouragement is the best method possible. Through encouraging Knox to go to the bathroom, Alecia and her husband have seemed to overcome the constipation hurdle and step into the realm of potty training.

I tried to introduce the potty chair to Jackson as a big surprise/ gift for him because he started to show interest in the pottys at the stores. He even went a couple time on the BIG potty however, he was not ashamed to show me how he truly felt about bringing the potty chair home!!! HILARIOUS!!!

When should I start toilet training my child? Is it different for girls and boys?

You should start toilet training somewhere around age 2 years of age. It really doesn’t matter if it’s a boy or girl in terms of when they start. It’s more about when the child is showing signs of readiness. The signs of readiness are them able to tell you that they are wet or dirty, they’re able to walk well, pull their pants up and down without falling over, that they’re able to be dry after a nap, or a period of time, or in the morning when they get up. Once they’re doing that, then you’re ready to start the process, and that could be anywhere from age 2 to age 3 1/2. There’s a huge variability on it, so not to worry if they’re 2 and haven’t shown any interest. My suggestions are that if you start, you want to be consistent. So you wait til you have those signs of readiness, and then once you have those signs then you want to offer them the opportunity to go to the bathroom about every 90 minutes or so during day. What you say to them is not, “do you want to go potty”? Instead you say, “Do you want to try to potty now or after we…” do something, like, “Now or after we wash our hands?” “Now or after we have our sandwich?” “Now, or after we brush our teeth?” ‘Cause 2 year-olds are about being independent. They want to be in control, so if you let them have a choice they will do much better. If they say “No”, you say “Okay, we’ll try later”, and an hour and a half later you ask them again. What will happen is eventually they’ll go or have to go at the time you ask and you’ll catch em, and it’ll be like bingo, “that’s what it’s like to go to the bathroom.”

The biggest mistake that families make is either they start too early before they are showing signs of readiness, or they’re inconsistent. They do it some days, they don’t do it other days. They do it when it’s convenient and the kid get confused. And after you pass that window then it becomes more of a fight and a control issue, and actually makes the process much more complicated.

Just a quick requested video on how we potty trained Deacon…

This worked for us but of course not for everyone! And we may be potty training Drake for a year! lol- totally depends on the child and whatever works best for them!

Oh and we use one of those little potty chair inserts to on our toilet (the one that sits on our seat and makes a smaller seat for him) for when he needs to go (-: (about $10 at Target/Wal Mart/etc.) he has the Cars one (-:

My 5 month old baby boy potty trained

We bought him this toilet for him to learn later and playing around we sat him on it and two min. Later he used it. Boy were we surprised and couldn’t believe it, so we kept trying and the next day he used it every single time after eating. Sure is going to save us alot of pampers…JK..LOL…..

My Grandparents chose to love each other when they met as teenagers, and then, they chose to love each other every part of every day, through the Great Depression,
through absence during war, child rearing, work, illnesses… Life.
Finding TRUE love? They met… And That was it. Again, the true love part was a daily choice whether either was as attractive or as exciting as the day they met.
True love depends on each person, not just the one you find or the one that finds you.
In other words, Love is a Choice, because we are not 110% lovable 24 hours a day.
True love is when each person sees that real life is not like a romance movie script
True love is accepting the fact of real life, which brings creative challenges that, with the choice to love, can increase attraction.
Popular novels, songs, shows, movies… Each have scripts that are no doubt, inspired. The talented people that write and act, the hundreds or thousands of people that are the list of credits at the end of a movie – from the accountants to the doctors to the musicians and screenwriters –
They work on projects that, as finished masterpieces, may often have coincidental similarities to your definition of romance and the most often undefined and over-used phrase… “true love”
Again, the credits behind movies, books, shows and songs… include a lot of people. Why, because such productions are intentionally crafted to touch our deepest self.
So, they are edited for perfection, music and effects and colors and thousands of other variables are used to enhance the dreamy, valium-drip state which translates to the vision of what love should be like
The scenes like magic, seem to shape the articles, the messages, and the hope or expectation seems to be right person will surprise you
In front of you, saying the most clever words, appearing right there, with presence, grooming, body language and confidence that is tailor made for you, and beyond your wildest dreams,
A person that is doing everything that brings bliss to you, every day of your life.
These elegant tapestries perfected by hundreds or thousands of people, they sometimes are called fairytales or fantasies ( both are f words ) for a reason. A fantasy is a fantasy, because it is not real.
Then, the absence of permanent fairytale existence becomes a deal breaker. Is that true love?
People age differently, so what if the one you truly love seems less fun than you are, later on, years along the true love path?
Finding true love is finding within us the ability to love that one person every day that you see in the best and worst moments on a planet called “real life” …
This can be difficult though, when, consistently, you go there almost every day and it’s so exciting,
And there, others are much more charming than the true love that awaits at home or in the other room.
Maybe you’re not in the movies, but Your stage is your work place, it’s the restaurant you went to, it’s facebook, you know where and what that stage is in your life.
It’s where you see glimpses of the best part of people’s lives, not the whole, vivid existence away from that place where you see them, where they’re putting on their best self
Your ’stage’ is separate from where we all get tired, hungry, lazy, hurried and even leave our socks on the floor. We get wrinkles.
Fantasies are wonderful indeed, however, fantasies fail to see the person in the mirror that’s not 25 anymore while judging that one that’s your age that looks your age.
Again… My Grandparents, loved each other in struggles through the great depression, absence during war, rearing a lot of children, illnesses and in the end, one stayed the other’s side day and night, at home, month after month, until breathing ceased, and eyes were silenced. TRUE love is not a fantasy to find, not a thing that finds you in one moment. It is a choice that we make… Every day.n (whatever that is)… It is a HEALTHY Body. Healthy body is a Functional body.
